Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona : 1970

The 365 took off from where the 275 GTB/4 left off. Both these cars were direct descendants of the famous 250 GTO. Like the 275, the Daytona features a front mounted V12 with a repair.com/transmission/' target='_blank'>transmission at the rear. While this did help weight distribution, it made for more inertia than that of a mid-engine layout.

From the begining, Pininfarina designed the Daytona with aerodynamics in mind. This was done to avoid stability mistakes as experienced with the 1964 275 GTB. Also revised from the 275 was a much stiffer chassis. The chassis, combined with the 4-wheel independant suspension made for very neutral handling characteristics.

The Ferrari Daytona stands out as one of the best Ferrari examples ever made. During its time, it was the fastest road-going car. Only years later was the 180mph topspeed ever challenged.

1968-1973, production of 1280 coupes and 127 convertibles.
