MINI Returns to its Roots

Tens of Thousands of MINI Enthusiasts to attend MINI UNITED 2009 in Silverstone, U.K., to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Iconic British Car.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of MINI, tens of thousands of MINI enthusiasts and their cool cars will descend upon the legendary Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom from May 22nd - 24th for MINI UNITED 2009.

Located about 80 miles northwest of London and just over 30 miles from MINI’s birthplace in Oxford, the Silverstone Circuit will play host to the third edition of the world’s largest MINI fan event, previously held in Misano, Italy in 2005, and Zandvoort, Netherlands in 2007.

MINI fans, many of whom will be driving their own cars from countries all over the world, can look forward to a weekend full of MINI Coopers on display, motorsport action, entertainment and a special exhibition of key products and milestones of MINI’s storied past.

MINI UNITED 2009 goers will have the opportunity to take to the track in their classic Minis and new MINIs on the legendary Silverstone Circuit, and may join a tour of Oxford Plant for a behind-the-scenes look at MINI production.

The event also will feature live musical performances from some of the most celebrated British artists of the past and present, including Saturday night headliner Peter Weller, rising rock bands Twisted Wheel and Raygun, British music icon Chris Thompson and electronic music sensation Calvin Harris.

Other highlights of the MINI UNITED include:
• Introduction of two new MINI Cooper Anniversary Editions
• Autograph sessions with MINI racing legends Rauno Aaltonen and Mike Cooper
• The third and fourth races of the popular MINI CHALLENGE International Race Series, and opportunities for fans to lap the track with their favorite drivers
• The Mini Seven Racing Club race of 40 classic Mini Cooper race cars
• Go-kart racing, stunt shows, lounges, restaurants and activities for children
